Page rank is a quality rating some search engines, most notably Google, will assign your website and subsequent pages.  As an example, Google page rank uses a 1-10 (best) ranking based on several factors figured into an advanced algorithm system.  While all factors and weights in this algorithm are unknown to the public, they include how well your site can be seen by the search engine, how important it thinks your subject matter is, and how relevant it thinks your content is to the represented themes.  Google's objective is to determine the value your visitors may receive by visiting your site.
