It depends.  If your site is personal and more of a hobby where dependability, flexibility, and access are not important, then yes, free hosting is fine.  For any serious web presence, and especially for business use you need the more robust hosting plans and support models offered by professional providers.  Free hosting platforms are generally known for downtime and lack of on-demand support.  Also many free hosting platforms of stacked full of spammers, process heavy websites and all around bad neighborhoods.
