What Is Web Mail?

Web mail, or as it is often written, webmail, is the ability to check, compose and send email from an internet interface without using a computer-local client such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora or other such clients. With traditional email client programs on your computer, email is actually downloaded to your computer and no longer kept on the actual mail server. In short, you must check email from a computer configured to connect to your particular email.

With web mail, you're connecting to your mail box and actually viewing what is in your internet mail box. You can read, compose, and send email on line directly without having to have a local email client configured. In short, you can interface with your email from any computer that has an internet connection.
