How Do I Secure An Ecommerce Site? Print E-mail
Securing a website for ecommerce starts with the installation of an SSL certificate to verify your site's identity and provide an encrypted connection for your shoppers.  Most merchants and payment gateways require this and you will also need a dedicated IP address for your website in most cases.  Once this is installed make sure you have no certificate errors generated by images being hot-linked from other non-secure sources.  Additional common sense precautions of general website security apply here as well.  Make sure all administrative portals have strong passwords, and where possible have administrative access available only from certain IP addresses.
