What Is Domain Parking? Print E-mail
Domain parking is registering a domain name, but not doing anything with it.  Parked domains are left in a sort of "limbo" at the registrar, not pointed at a website or no email associated with the domain.  Parking is actually desirable if you want to register a domain for future use, or to keep someone else from getting a domain you would not want a competitor to get.

During the parking phase, the registrar will usually put a "parking page", often with ads, in place for the domain to resolve to temporarily.  While the registrar actually appears to have use of the domain for possible revenue during this period, the registrant, or owner of the domain can change it's status at any time.
